NHRA Midwest Nationals Winner Videos: Watch Enders, Torrence, and Hagan Claim Victory at Worldwide Technology Raceway

It was a truly wild weekend in Madison, Illinois for the NHRA Midwest Nationals. This event was run under the best conditions in years and the performances showed it. From Friday night qualifying right on through Sunday eliminations, competitors were locked into a playoff mindset and it showed.

From Mike Salinas making the quickest run of the entire NHRA season on Friday night to Brittany Force supplanting that number with nearly 338mph of speed in the process, huge numbers out of funny cars, loads of great pro stock runs, it was just what the doctor ordered to round out an NHRA stretch of four races in a row that began at the US Nationals in Indy.

Matt Hagan took it to the competition in funny car, Erica Enders did the job in pro stock, and Steve Torrence rung the bell in top fuel when it was all over on Sunday. All three of the racers had their own path to victory and below you’ll watch them make the last step on that journey to collect the rewards!

I’m sorry but the “Health Issue” rule in NHRA is BS. Giving championship points to a driver that was never even at the track?

It’s one thing if a driver has an issue and can’t run the full race like in NASCAR. He starts the race, comes in and switches to the back up driver.

The NHRA should at least require a driver to present themselves in the car at the line and take a green. Idle down if they’d like, but they must be present for at least one run.

They did that to avoid a driver with COVID 19 from showing up at the track and infecting others, in order to not lose their place in points. . It’s a rule that was created during the current pandemic. I’m 100% in favor of this rule. These are difficult times. Better than racing being cancelled altogether.
