When it comes to the development of small block cylinder head technology, NASCAR was the realm for decades. When they went to the 358ci displacement rule, the major manufacturers went to town on developing the best heads to make the most power. Ford, Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Chevrolet, and even Mopar for a while poured good money into heads that would out muscle the other guys. While these heads are old, they are still capable of making huge power and they still work really, really well. This engine is an example.
You are going to see a 434ci small block Chevy with a set of 1990 era Pontiac NASCAR heads belt out nearly 800hp at wonderful RPM on the dyno at Prestige Motorsports. That’s all well and good but this engine has a secret. The thing is going to be sprayed with 1,000hp of nitrous when being used in the No Prep style drag car it is landing in.
These dudes got hybrid style creative with this piece as it uses a carb to feed the fuel but uses Holley brains to control nitrous, timing, two-step, rev-limiter and more. How are they getting to 1,000hp of spray? In three ways. A 500 shot of direct port nitrous, a 300 shot direct port in the plate adapter, as well as another 200 shot below the carb.
We have no idea what car this is landing in but we already love it.
SBC Goodness!——-I like it!
