Here’s 10 Of The Most Violent And Brutal Drag Racing Wheelstands Ever Caught On Tape – LOOK OUT BELOW!

If I was forced to sit and watch one thing for the rest of my life it would be drag cars pulling the wheels up. Wheelstands are an art form at the strip and they take on many shapes and sizes. There are the short geared stockers that just pop the front tires and then set them back down, there are the fuel dragsters that get up on their wheelie bar and dangle their tires above the racing surface, there are the small tire and radial guys who managed to hike them at full throttle half way down the track, and then there are the guys featured in this video. The full-on, mega-violent, smash the front suspension out, squash the oil pan, madmen. Sean Melton of Urban Hillbilly Action Videos posted this gem the other day and it is a look at 10 of the most violent and crushing wheelies he has ever captured. The footage comes from the famed World Power Wheelstanding Contest at Byron Dragway and the booming baritone you heat on the microphone in the background is none other than Ron Leek.

The cars range from pieces that were clearly built for this abuse to beautiful machines like the white shoebox Nova that seem to pretty to bash but all of these end the same way…with pain. The few clips that also show in-car video give a mild example of how bone-crushing these landings are. Hell, one car breaks the front wheel clean off and it gets hemmed up under the chassis! Melton has been crushing it with his archival footage lately and this is another example of the gold that lurks in his massive vault of video.

Well that must be the only down-hill drag strip in existence!

Cars must get better ETs thanks to gravity.

The ultimate wheelstander was the Back-up Pick-up – I think it was a Dodge that had its chassis installed back to front so it looked like it was reversing as it popped massive wheelies – I’d sure like to see some footage of that baby!
