Holley National Hot Rod Reunion 2014 Coverage: 30 Of The Coolest Engines We Found At Beech Bend

Photos by Charles Wickam and Bryan McTaggart – Know what happens when you get several hundred of the oldest school, hardest core hot rodders together and turn them loose on the drag strip with minimal rules that limit creativity and encourage them to think out of the box? Really awesome stuff, that’s what and you are going to see 30 examples of said, “really awesome stuff” in this collection of photos we grabbed from the pits and the strip.

This reunion is like the others in Epping, New Hampshire and Bakersfield, California in the fact that they are among the few places in the drag racing world that you can hand out and see a huge spread of engine types, sizes, and power levels…all within the same classes! Sure, there are some small blocks like you’d expect but there are Hemi engines in vast quantities, MEL Ford mills on a huge load of nitro, SOHC Ford engines, big and small block Chevys on nitromethane, and on and on and on. This is a collection of photos that barely begins to scratch the surface. We’ll be back with more later in the week.
