Holy Smokes! This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Pro Stocker Is Completely Unrestored, Exactly As it Was Raced, And For Sale

So I have basically turned this into “Stuff For Sale Sunday” at this point but frankly, these links keep coming to me and they contain cars and trucks that are so freaking cool I have been left with no choice. For instance, take this authentic 1970 Hemi powered Barracuda pro stocker. How awesome is this car? It sits in the same condition it was raced in during the early 1970s and the preservation is amazing. There are lots of photos of the car on the eBay ad and we have republished some of them below to show the coolest parts of the car. Everything about this machine is nearly perfect in our eyes and the coolest part? The coolest part of the car is definitely the white steel wheels on the back. Initially we thought that there was no way the car was run with those but then there’s an photo from back when the car was racing and sure enough, front end up and steel wheels planted to the strip!

The car wasn’t ever nationally prominent but it was shown in Hot Rod according to the seller and some talented wrenches touched it during the time it was raced and before it was lovingly stored, and it was loving stored. There are some small battle scars and imperfections that totally make the thing cooler. “Restoring” this car in the traditional sense would be a real bad thing to do. While the seller says that the do take the car down the street every once in a while, getting the hemi torn down, checked, and fired would be job number one for us. We wouldn’t be out there racing it per se but we would want it to perform a burnout or two in an illustration of how awesome pro stock was back when it was real factory stuff pounding on each other. Dry hops as well!

The car ran down in the 9.60s on its best days and that’s pretty awesome in our book, especially when you see how basic the chassis setup is and remembering the fact that the driver needed to rip the handle to get it on down through there in that sort of elapsed time. So flipping neat. What do you think it will sell for?

    Too many headlights for a 1970. It seems to have 1970 tail lights though, and doesn’t have the 71 only fender gills. Likely a 70 with a 71 grill.

      According to the VIN, it’s a 70, 318 original engine.

      No idea where the final price will be, but certain it will be well above my budget. Unless the Powerball lands on me.

    ….. and once again I’ll ask … where’s the verifiable and documented proof that this IS in fact an unrestored racer of old ? …

    Seriously ..when it comes to stuff like this … y’all need ta get it thru your heads . Outside of the fine art and wine collectors world … collectable cars of all sorts are THE most faked , manipulated and manufactured collectables on the market .

    And btw … who in the ___ would pay a premium price for a ‘ Pro Stock ‘ even if this is as advertised …. that in fact has ZERO … and looking it up I do mean ZERO …. significant results ? A major league Fool and his/her money perhaps ?

    Brother … I’m sure glad no one here’s managing my finances and investments 😉

    PS; And about the ‘ shown in Hot Rod ‘ claimed by the seller . Again … where in the ___ is the proof ? Issue ? Year & Month ? Anything ?

    Who is this guy [the seller ] and who in the ___ does he think he’s fooling ? Oh yeah .. everyone that wants to believe what they’ve been told rather than research a purchase of this size before being parted from their money .

    Seriously … everything points to ConArtist / Grifter when it comes to this guys claims . But as the bard [ Randy Newman ] sings ;

    ” I could be wrong now …. But I don’t think so “

      Yeah, exactly. If the guy was claiming it was a genuine Sox & Martin car, I’d be spectacle. But no one is going to fake a privateer car, except maybe if it’s a tribute to a car that their father raced way back or some such.

    Saw this one run Pro Stock at a meet in Bowling Green many years ago. Got a photo somewhere if I can locate it.
