(Photos by Chad Reynolds) – It is official, Drag Week 2014 will be the largest in the 10 year history of the event with a final tally of more than 300 competitors that’ll try to survive the week long trek around the midwest with stops at drag strips each and every day. The cars and trucks range from the mundane to the completely nuts with some whispers about five second elapsed times being a possibility out of at least one vehicle here this week. Tom Bailey made the quickest and fastest documented lap for a street legal car in North America yesterday by going 6.52/226mph on a solo shot at Tulsa. Earlier in the weekend, Jeff Lutz in the “Evil Twin” 1957 Chevy went deep into the six second zone while deploying the parachute 5.3 seconds into the run. This is going to be epic beyond words!

While Chad and Larry were hanging around in the tech line yesterday, Chad blasted off this gallery of photos so you can get a feel for what’s here and what will be hammering the strips we’ll visit this week.

The live broadcast starts later this morning, until then, check out our photos at the link below –

Just a crazy thing I’d like to see is a article (and pictures) on the different trailers everybody are using and how they are attacking the problem of supporting their racing out of one — Just saw a couple the looked really High-Tech and a couple that looked really cool

The trailers or what they use to support there race operation with at the track and on the road would be cool! Thats a great idea some behind the scenes stuff like that 55 with the luggage rack
