Indiana’s Historic Bunker Hill Dragway Is For Sale – Track, Restaurant, House, Plus An Additional Speedway Could Be Yours!

Indiana’s Historic Bunker Hill Dragway Is For Sale – Track, Restaurant, House, Plus An Additional Speedway Could Be Yours!

It is that time of the year again! First we told you about I-40 Dragway going up for sale a week or two ago and now we’re back with another track that is being offered up to the highest bidder. In this case the facility is the long running Bunker Hill Dragway in Indiana. This place has been open for some 59 years according to the sales listing below and we know of a bunch of guys who have turned tires there or screamed into a microphone there. Pal O’ BangShift Brian Olson has announced many nights there, the track has run a hugely popular wheelstand contest there the last couple of years, and by all accounts, the place has a bright future ahead of it. We can’t find stories about the track being threatened by neighbors, lawyers, or other groups so that’s a good thing.

In the 59 years the place has been opened there have been exactly two couples who have operated the track. That’s one heck of a legacy for a new owner to step into. The asking price for the drag strip and all associated equipment, the restaurant and all of its equipment, along with a three bedroom house that is on the property is $650,000. If one really wanted to become and Indiana racing mogul and add on the 23.5 acres and Bunker Hill Speedway, the price goes to $850,000.

We hope some potential buyers are putting together offers or if they aren’t maybe seeing this will push them over the hump to get it done. A historic track with six decades of legacy? What a deal, right?!

Here’s the statement from Bunker Hill Dragway on the proposed sales deal –

FOR SALE
Bunker Hill Dragstrip is For Sale, the owners are extremely tired and want to pursue other endeavors. Bunker Hill Dragstrip is the oldest track in Indiana, and is second only to Stout Field as having been the first organized drag racing facility in Indiana. With the facility only having two owners in it’s rich 59 year history, Jim, and Mary Hullinger and family, and current owners Steve and Darlene Daniels, your opportunity to own a piece of drag racing history is here.

Asking price is $650,000 for the dragstrip, including OutPost bar/grill/restaurant and also includes the 3 bedroom brick ranch house, 40×60 shop building, all rolling stock, and any/all equipment to conduct race events including the timing system, and all the current equipment used in the operation of the bar/grill/restaurant. Acreage is 20 acres +/-.
The adjoining Bunker Hill Speedway property, 23.5 acres, is also for sale at an asking price of $250,000. Asking price for the entire property combined would be $850,000.

The property and buildings alone, less the new building which is the OutPost bar/grill building, appraised for $500,000 in 2010. Serious inquiries are highly encouraged. Equipment list can be provided for the very serious. Leasing of the dragstrip for seasonal operation would be considered dependant upon an equitable proposal. Interested persons may call the track number, 765-689-8248, or email steve @ bunkerhillrace.com facebook message system is not a reliable way to contact us, sorry.

Raced there many times along with Terre Haute Action Dragway and ET receway in Lyons Indiana years ago. Brings back great memories.

I was born and raised in Peru. I raced my 69 Chevelle SS, at that track many times. I loved it. I am just to old to buy it now. Have fun and I wish the new owners the best of everything. This is a great track in a very historic area of Indiana.
