(By Tom Lohnes) – Do you want to take a brand new C8 Corvette and ruin it? Well, for $3,000 hard earned dollars you very much can with scissor doors for the new-for-2020 mid-engined Corvette.
Yes you heard me right, you can get Lambo doors on a C8. Transitioning from a sports car to an all-out supercar gives the C8 great modification potential and many companies have been making good use out of it. But, say you want to Lambo-out your C8. Well Upright Doors Incorporated has you covered. They will sell you a self-installation kit for the C8 for $3,000, or they can install it for you for $4,300.
To put that into perspective, you can get a whole C4 Corvette for $4,300, which you can add to your collection and possibly restore. With its 2.8 second 0-60 time, the C8 doesn’t need some obnoxious (and frankly not very good looking) doors to prove itself. But, if scissor doors are your thing, contact upright door and they will have you covered.
In conclusion, keep Lambo doors on Lambos. If you need to put them on another car, the wrecking yard cansupply you with a Scion TC, Honda Civic, or Chevy Cobalt for your modding needs.
If you look at a Lambo with scissor doors the bottom front edge is such that it doesn’t intrude on the opening. With any Lambo door conversion I can recall seeing you have way less room for ingress/egress. I would never fit my fat ass in the car. But I’m sure idiots will install these, probably the same guy I saw around here with 26 inch rims on a ZL1 Camaro.
If you can’t afford a real Lambo, this will be a good alternative!
It’s known by some around here as the Russian-gangster mod.
