We love the Lagana boys. They grew up in the sport of drag racing as part of a nitro soaked family and they learned to race smart and with virtually no budget. The boys learned from their dad how to confront challenges, how to defy conventions, and ultimately how to survive in a hard scrabble manner while running nitromethane powered race cars. The result of their education has been brought to the fore on the largest stage drag racing has to offer over the last few years. No longer are these guys scraping along race to race. Instead both Dominic and Bobby Lagana are smart, cagey, and highly respected tuners. Bobby is the co-crew chief of Steve Torrance’s all conquering top fuel dragster and Dominic fields the “Nitro Ninja” fueler which has a myriad of drivers through it over the course of the year.
Recently the fellows dragged their Nitro Ninja car to US131 Motorsports Park and ran it full bore through the quarter mile recording the fastest speed ever by a top fuel dragster at over 338mph. The only thing more awesome than the flames up, quarter mile pull is the reaction of the team, of Bobby Lagana and the crowd that saw the massive run made.
This is a mechanical thing of beauty but in reality the beauty extends far deeper than the track. This is a pair of guys who did so much with so little for so long they learned how to do anything with nothing. Now that they have parts, pieces, and their collected knowledge, they will be top level guys in this sport for decades.
We love these dudes.

Big Fuck**n deal, Bobby Hight ran 339 at 1,000 feet.
Just the fact there is a place that will \”Allow\” 1/4 mile is AWESOME!!
Some Dover boys make good!
Dom has driven a few times for the T/F team in Australia that I crew for, and I am incredibly lucky to know him. The road trip we did to race interstate will remain one of my favourite memories from a 35 year involvement with the sport – a laid back, laugh-a-minute guy who is incredibly knowledgable (by necessity), can drive the wheels off a race car, and competes for the right reason – he loves the sport. Dom & Bobby deserve every success that comes their way.
didnt 1 of the Aussie cars run 339 this year?
What the Lagana Brothers accomplished under the deteriorating conditions is just remarkable. Air temp was 55 degrees, humidity around 65%; track temp was 72 degrees. They only wanted to get from A to B without smoking the tires; this was, after all, a show for their fans at what they consider their home track. The incremental numbers were soft; it dropped a hole at 4.1 seconds into the run; they didn\’t hurt anything, and didn\’t blister the new set of tires. It was an impressive sight. No one was more stunned than Bobby to see that MPH come up. Their previous best was 330.79 at US 131.
