Last Blast Of Stock And Super Stock Coolness From The Maple Grove NHRA Division One LODRS Race

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Funnily enough, depending on the time of the day that you are looking at this blog item, I may actually be announcing the very cars you see in this gallery at the NHRA national event in Englishtown, New Jersey this weekend. Today is what we call “hardcore Thursday” in the announcer’s booth because it is straight up sportsman action with the professional stuff getting underway with qualifying on Friday. But we digress. As we told you earlier in the week, NHRA’s division one is comprised of the New England states and because it is such a tightly packed area with lots of racers, divisional and national events are highly populated affairs with tons of cars and to be more specific, tons of fast cars, there’s lost of fun to be had.

In this gallery we take one last look at the stock and super stock racers at Maple Grove. From their cars being wrenched on in the pits to the same machines pulling the front bumper feet into the air on the hit, these are some of our favorite types of drag cars in the world. As weird as it is to say, stock eliminator cars are the original “small tire” drag cars because of their limitation to a 9″ wide drag slick. Despite those little tires, they haul the mail and do it while looking damned good.

Hopefully one of the racers you see in this gallery collects a Wally at the NHRA Summernationals at Englishtown! If you are going to be at the race, don your BS gear and find me in the pits!
