Mad Mule Coverage From Galot Motorsports Park: The New One Day Pro Mod Sensation!

Mad Mule Coverage From Galot Motorsports Park: The New One Day Pro Mod Sensation!

(Words and photos by Benoit Pigeon) –  The Mad Mule is a brand new single day Pro Mod race at Galot Motorsports in Benson, NC. The name it self comes from the local annual Mule festival, Mule Days, happening there every September for over fifty years. It’s a long tradition and from my research it even sounds full of wild and interesting activities.

The track is located just few miles from I95 and sits in the middle of farm fields but it’s a little jewel, brand new, that many have already referred to as a small ZMax. So now we have all the elements of extreme packed in a little town and Mad is definitely what it is on the first Thursdays of the Summer Month. To top it, this is the home state of many of the fastest Pro Nitrous cars in the nation and the power of the Tutterow tuned blown cars of the Galot team.

The accompanying pictures depict the very first Mad Mule happening on June 3rd.  We’ll come back for more, but I wanted to make a quick intro for this first this time.

Quick notes:  Jay Cox from near by Smithfield won this race, facing John Strickland in the final. 19 cars entered the one day event including the Turbo Pig of Clint Satterfield from New Mexico and Ed Burney in Nitrous was one of the farthest east coast based cars coming from Maryland. Next race, first Thursday in July.
