SOLD: Maple Grove Raceway Reportedly Set To Be Sold To Pennsylvania Racing Development Company – Good News!

The wait for the answer to the question, “Has Maple Grove been sold yet,” is apparently over. The Reading Eagle newspaper is reporting that a King of Prussia, PA based company called Motorsports Developers have reached an agreement to buy the property. The agreement must be executed in the next 90 days to be finalized but by all appearances this is the end to the sale process and the beginning of an interesting new chapter in the life of one of America’s most iconic drag racing plants.

The group, which has three partners intends to modernize the facility, to add seating, add a drift track, a karting track, and basically take what is already a gem and really polish it up. The sale price has not been disclosed but we know that at one point the asking price was some $8-million. That’s a load of money to make back with a facility that only holds drag races and we think that diversifying the place with the addition of these other aspects is a very, very smart move. Multi-use facilities are the way of the world in motorsports these days and this place will finally become one.

More will be coming out about this group and their intended purchase but we think that this is really something to celebrate because the track is going into the hands of those who want to enhance it, not tear it down.

Maybe they can go into the scrap metal business? Oh never mind, that was already done in E-town.

Hopefully the new regime will be welcoming to ALL makes of cars there instead of the tremendous Chebby bias that’s lingered there forever. Guess we’ll see.

It was the very stale bread I’m talking about that made it impossible to swallow.

Had LOTS of very poor experiences down there dealing with THAT subject as did MANY people I know so it certainly wasn’t just me.

Like the time I went down for a test and tune day. Paid my money same as everybody else. Then proceeded to sit there from the time they opened(around 8AM) until almost noon for them to call my class for the first time. Meanwhile I sat there and watched their “buddies” make lap after lap. Then left around 5 and still only had that 1 pass on my car. Thanks!!! What a joke!!

Or the last time they had their original Mopar show in the late 80s/early 90s that they cancelled the whole show on an absolutely perfect day because the day before the weather man said there was “a chance” of rain. Funny I was at the Super Chebby Show before when it actually WAS raining and they didn’t cancel that one?! ALL of the people who pre-registered(like me) got boned on that one because they never gave one red cent back. Plus I got the pleasure of paying 2 hours of turnpike tolls and gas money. I’ve been waiting 30 years to get my 27 bucks back. Maybe once that 8 million dollar check clears those morons can finally send those refund checks out. I’m not holding my breath! Like I said, good riddance to those clowns!!
