Fun thing about drag radials, turbos, and suspension setup. When you get all three of them aligned right, crazy stuff like this happens! This 1967 Chevelle which is equipped with a twin turbo engine of unknown size and/or family is racing at the 2015 March Meet. We happened to be in perfect position to catch the monster Chevrolet going into a huge and long distance wheelie that nearly ended in disaster. You will see the car climb up, stay up, get on one wheel, and then land with a shower of sparks coming out from under it.
We think it is rad that cars of this type (normally seen at PSCA style races) are at the March Meet as well. We have talked about the history of turbos in drag racing before and they were totally part of the program back in the day so this thing is not out of place by any means. What we do know is that this heavy Chevy is a mean piece and the license plate seems to indicate it was dragged to California all the way from North Dakota! That is dedication and we’re happy to be able to five this racer his five minutes of internet fame.
Oh…note that there is a GoPro on the car. That video is going to rule.
That 67 Chevelle is rolling out of Belfield/Dickinson North Dakota! It’s a local sweet street driven monster!
Bubba Romanyshyn, out of Belfield/Dickinson North Dakota, is a regular at Oahe Speedway, just outside of Pierre, SD. We got see this same performance last summer at Oahe…that Chevelle is outa this world, wicked fast….All of the guys from North Dakota run only one way…wide open….I contend that any one of them could pull the wheels on any frozen lake bed in cold country!!
I bet that was a real…..
” Pant’s Shiit”er “!!!!!!
Saw it live at the track. Hope there wasn’t to much front end damage when it landed back to earth! Hopefully there are Wheelie Bars in the future for this bad ass 67 Chevelle.
Great pictures, nice catch.
There is only 1 Bubba…… Seems he has a Rocket Chevelle and knows how to drive it…..Excellent . I hear Summit has a sale on oil pans.
So, apparently he did hurt it and took out the Dart later on.
The altercation between a Chevelle and a Dart was two different cars. The other Chevelle was a 70. Find details on that incident here: http://bangshift.com/bangshift1320/exclusive-in-car-footage-from-the-dart-and-chevelle-crash-at-the-2015-march-meet/
Thats my son Bubba. I told him to get smaller shoes.Well at least I know what he was doing last weekend.Do you know where your son was last weekend ?
Cauterize the wounds on the pan and chassis like John Rambo did with the wounds he had by chewing the bullet off of a brass ammo round and use a stick from the fire and seal it up. Then let her fly again like new. Great job on the driving and keep it screaming.
