This 1967 Pontiac Catalina Wagon Has A 400ci Engine, Air Bags, A Virtually Nothing We Would Change

As Chad live streams the March Meet this weekend, he has seen some cool push and tow cars dragging drag machines to the starting line area, no doubt. The first thing we thought of when looking at this 1967 Pontiac Catalina was that it would be a killer car to have with a push plate on the front to start a cackle dragster or maybe even tow an old slingshot on a small open single axle trailer. Hey with a warmed up 400ci V8 under the hood and plenty of room for friends and tools in the back, it is a match made in heaven. Long before the SUV existed, these big beasts were carrying people and stuff all over the country and doing it well.

You have to love the styling on this car with its interesting stacked lights on the far reaches of the car’s nose. The way the front end comes forward makes the whole thing look like it was custom designed for the show circuit or something but if you can imagine it, GM designers came up with an awesome idea and it was put into practice. As compared to the fuel economy, aerodynamic, and safety obsessed designs of today, this thing is a great departure. Can you believe that this car has original paint on it? Seriously, it is a western car that has obviously been well kept as it is not all chalky and bad like so many get under the sun out there. This car is really neat and really cool.

There are 100+ photos and a LONG ad for this car on eBay. Here’s a portion of the text:

I love that brocade interior. The only changes I would make would be tires with more sidewall to better fill those big wheel wells and a disc brake kit. They added a new booster/master cylinder set up, but left the drum brakes? Weird?

Sweet looking wagon, I’m with Scott, I’d add disc brakes and more sidewall to the rims.

All 67 full size Ponchos were too cool, maybe even double too cool. The Gran Prix was awesome too. But I have to be “that guy”. This one could have been a Bonneville Safari instead.

The owner states, “no wondering or pulling to one side even when applying the brakes” which is code for, “with the wheel/tire combo, the drum brakes, the “rear steer” (steering linkage behind the knuckles) and slammed suspension, it’s spooky to plain evil when applying the brakes” I would imagine the bump steer is the chart.

Very cool car though, I’m a sucker for B body station wagons.

Polished American five spokes don’t belong on everything, they’re quickly becoming a cliche.
This car would look great with a set of Pontiac eight lugs.
    Other than that, sweet ride.
