Beef Your Rear: Mark Williams Enterprises Introduces Their Corvette C2-C3 Rear Axle Improvement Kit

The C2/C3 Corvette platform has not been more popular than it has become at this moment in the aftermarket. What that means is not just restorations but people taking these cars and upgrading them with more power, more handling capability, and loads more stresses than original driveline parts were ever designed to withstand. If you are a C2/C3 Corvette owner and you basically grit your teeth and cringe every time you hit the throttle because you think the factory driveline is going to let you down, we have the solution for you right here. Mark Williams Enterprises new Corvette C2-C3 Rear Axle Improvement Kit.

The original Corvette 17 spline axles may have been OK for the era in which they were first made, but a warmed up engine and aggressive driving can destroy them. The solution? These parts. See, this kit replaces the wheel flange axle, universal joint flange, and the 4-bolt u-joint flange on the tubular rear axle drive shaft. The spline on the axle is increased to a more modern 31-spline with a 1.333” major diameter. That’s just the start.

Corvette C2-C3 Rear Axle Improvement Kit

Part Number 50230-KIT
This Corvette Rear Axle Kit is for the C2 and C3 (Circa: 1963-1982)  Corvettes that originally have 17-spline axles. This kit replaces the wheel flange axle, universal joint flange, and the 4-bolt u-joint flange on the tubular rear axle drive shaft. The spline on the axle is increased to a more modern 31-spline with a 1.333” major diameter.

The axles are produced from a 4340 alloy forging that have a double heat-treat process. The axle features an increased 1” diameter extra-fine retention thread. The original two-piece bolt-on cast u-joint flange is replaced with a one-piece 4340 alloy, 1350 universal joint yoke-flange. It features removable billet steel caps that attach with ARP® 12-point bolts with provision for safety wire. The preload spacer has extra material to allow field trimming for setting the exact preload. The kit has Timken® tapered roller bearings and SKF CR Seals®. The ARP® screw in wheel studs are increased to 1/2”-20 threads with a quick-start feature. All the parts required for the conversion are included in this kit.

  • Forged double heat treated 31-spline 4340 flange axles
  • One-piece alloy heat treated universal joint yoke with billet caps
