9s The Easy Way: The New McLaren 765LT Runs The Quarter In 9.33 Seconds, Drains Your Bank Account Faster

(By Tom Lohnes) – A few months ago, McLaren confirmed their wild 765LT supercar will achieve under 10 seconds in the quarter mile. Well, they were right, but we sort of expected a 9.9 or 9.8. Well, I am pleased to say it is well under that. Move over Demon, there’s a new king in town.

Hitting 0-60 in 2.1 seconds, 100 in 4.7, and passing the 1320-foot mark in 9.33 seconds, the 765LT is the quickest production car ever recorded, 0-60 and ¼ mile. With 755 horsepower, 590 lb.-ft of torque, and weighing under 3000 lbs., it isn’t hard to see why the 765 accelerates so hard. The Demon, although impressive for such a heavy car, requires slicks, race gas, and a trans brake to be that quick, and the 765LT did it on factory tires. This feat was achieved by a Youtuber appropriately named Dragtimes, who has one of the first 765LTs in the country, along with a fleet of other cars that includes a Challenger Demon.

For just over $300,000, the 765LT is one of the few cars in that price range that is actually worth it. Of course, options are plentiful, but those sticky R-compound tires are standard so you can run 9’s without paying extra.

Run 9’s “without paying extra”? You paid $300K for it. Compared to the Demon. You paid K$200 extra for it. Besides, take 1000 pounds out of the Demon and see what it runs. And I’ll wager ride quality in this thing is just a bit better than a go-kart. along with.Oil change on a Demon $40. Oil change one most supercars like this $10,000. And you should know that is correct also. Thanks for telling us about the cute go-kart here. I’ll stick with the Demon.

That’s hilarious that you listed a Challenger Demon as one of the cars that Youtuber Dragtimes (Brooks) owns. Brooks owns a fleet of revolving fast cars (mostly exotics) including Ford GT’s, Lambos, McLarens, Ferrari’s and Tesla’s. He definitely doesn’t own a Demon. He made numerous videos depicting Demons getting whooped on by many of his cars and seemed to take particular pleasure in the outcomes.

BTW, his brand new bone stock 765LT ran a best of 9.41 on the factory tires. He then swapped on a set of stickier R rated road tires (Toyo 888R) to obtain multiple 9.3 times. I never dreamed I would see the day that a factory stock car would run a 9.3. And especially without a set of drag specific tires. Simply amazing.
