Monster Vs. Mayhem: Hoonigan’s ’55 Chevy Against A Legit Monster Truck At The Drag Strip

Any and every time I see a monster truck on something that isn’t dirt or a pile of crap car that’s half-flat already, it looks…wrong, somehow. It shouldn’t, but seriously, any kind of competition on asphalt and the monster truck just looks so far out of it’s element that it’s comical. Putting one of these big-tire mothers on a drag strip is simply mental. Just look at this…it takes up the whole damn lane! Ryan Anderson’s “Son-Uva Digger” is a full-on, 66-inch tire monster truck. Not a mega truck, not a big-ass mud truck, but a legitimate monster, the stadium flyer, the car crusher, and in the hands of Anderson, a dancing machine…the things that he has made the Willys-bodied rig do defies belief.

Then there’s Jon Chase’s “Tri 5 By Fire” 1955 Chevy gasser. It’s quick…not quick enough to keep from getting his beard mowed down by Goldberg last spring, but it’s nothing to mess with all the same. 600 horsepower in a ’55 Chevy always equals good times. So…we’re at a drag strip and we have the ultimate boomer icon hot rod versus 1990s Monster Jam mayhem on tractor tires. Might as well see what both will do, right?
