(By Tom Lohnes) – Earlier this month, Kia unveiled the EV6, which is a promising all-electric sedan that delivered on a lot of fronts, but didn’t give much in the face of performance. Well, we didn’t expect Kia to give us an amped-up (literally) version of the EV6, but here we are. Meet the EV6 GT.
With standard AWD, the Kia EV6 GT makes a potent 577 horses out of two electric motors. How potent, you ask? Well, in the launch video, Kia lined the EV6 up against a 591-hp Ferrari California T, a 641-hp Lamborghini Urus SUV, a 444-hp Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, a 503-hp Mercedes-AMG GT and a 562-hp Mclaren 570S. At the end of the 400 meters (roughly ¼ mile), the mighty Mclaren was the only one to pass the Kia. Impressive stuff.
Other than the performance, the EV6 GT benefits from better wheels, revised suspension, and extended use of suede throughout the interior. Pricing should start at roughly $50,000 for the GT. Base model EV6’s go on sale next year, and those things start at about $30,000. Is the EV6 GT in the books for your first EV purchase? That race might’ve just sold me on one.
Wow. Electric motors.

….Wonder what’s for lunch?
Until EV manufacturers can build a vehicle that delivers an honest 300 miles of range in subzero weather, and charging as fast as filling up a gas tank I’m not interested.
How far do you get before you have to plug it in???
