NHRA Wild Rides 2020: A Short Season That Was Long On Thrills, Chills, and Spills

NHRA Wild Rides 2020: A Short Season That Was Long On Thrills, Chills, and Spills

The year and the season are officially done. Yes it was about half the normal races but no it was not just half the normal action. We saw some of the most wild moments of the entire decade play out in 2020 and as you will see in this video, all of the drivers walked away. Each year the NHRA puts out its Wildest Rides videos on social media and they also make a 30 minute show called, “They Walked Away” which will be airing on FS1 this winter. Both look back in different ways into the moments that made us all stop and stare on the drag strip.

It’s impossible to not mention two women who kind of own the stunning clips in this video. Leah Pruett and Alexis DeJoria. Leah had the moment in St Louis that pretty well topped them all in terms of insanity over the course of 2020. Her car breaking into two pieces and flying through the air like a kite was something we’ll never forget. Alexis had the massive explosion in St Louis and then a funny car fire for the ages at Dallas, Texas. She was back in the car after both of those mental incidents.

We’re about three months from Gainesville. Let’s hope the season starts “on time” for NHRA racers!
