(Words by Bryan McTaggart) – The Chevy Cobalt is currently underneath some scrutiny lately, with dangerous ignition cylinders and all that. And apparently a group of racers have decided that it’s a safer bet to neutralize these road-going dangers than risk driving them. In this video you can see they have the most violent beast of the Cobalts, the supercharged SS version, strapped down onto a dyno for their own protection. As the car starts to roar in effort of freeing itself from the tie-downs, one of the racers takes a bottle of nitrous, points it at the beast’s snout, and opens up the tap. Within seconds, it’s obvious that this Cobalt won’t be hurting anyone for a long time.
While I don’t normally approve of such graphic measures, let’s remember that this video is designed to promote safety. Neither the Cobalt or the racers will be terrorizing the streets for a long time to come.

i was talking to a guy running 10.5 street out law he had a motor built for N2O 500 HP shot off the line, and 500 HP shot halfway down the track. i asked him how much wear and tear is that on the motor. his response to me was “Pistons are like Soldiers all go out to fight some come back some don’t”. I think these boys just lost the the war.

Guess the ECM couldn’t get rich fast enough or just couldn’t send enough fuel. Time to park it in the hood with the doors unlocked.
Shame when it blowed up that something didn’t come out of the motor and bonk one of them waterheads right in the noggin.
It was too rich hence the blacksmoke rolling out of the tail pipe. Looks like it just popped a head gasket.
