Pro Street Bargain? This 1975 Pontiac Firebird Isn’t Perfect But It Is Cool And Priced To Sell

There’s something about a pro street style car that I’ll never get tired of looking at. Whether it is the stance, the look of the different rubber on the corners, or the general attitude, they all have some element of tough built into them maybe more so than other types of cars. This 1975 Firebird hits me right between the eyes as I have really begun to like the middle 1970s styled cars more over the last few years. It wears some SD-455 badging as a tribute to those factory bruisers but the 455 under the hood of this car is actually a 455ci OLDS engine that has been hot rodded and hooked to the four speed from a 1969 Chevelle.

While the car is not a concours winner or something that you’ll take to chase a Ridler award, it is  nice looking and functional piece that has a buy it now price of less than $11,000 bucks. The machine currently has open headers but the seller says that if someone pays the Buy it Now price he’ll have a full exhaust installed by a local muffler shop. That’s a value add, kids!

Perhaps the only thing we’d change is to take some altitude out of the front end and give the car some of that cool pro street rake that makes us think of 1970s pro stock cars. Other than cleaning up some stuff on the interior and getting out to burn rubber, there’s little else that we would do. In a world that constantly assaults us with cars that are so done, so perfect, and so pristine, isn’t it cool to see something like this which has a decent price and the ability to provide a ton of entertainment on the street without any worries of dinging the paint? 100% BangShift approved goodness here.

(Upon further consideration, we’d also start on a stroker Pontiac built to pull the undoubtedly healthy Olds out for at some point just to keep it Poncho from head to toe.)

    I’d take it.
Run the 455 until a built Poncho drive train comes around, and then slap the big Olds into a G-Body Cutlass as an affordable “fun” car.

Looks good to me, I’d leave the Olds in there. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Only change I’d make is that awful cowl hood.
