Race Car Or Big Boosted Street Car? Hoonigan Pits The Two Together!

Race Car Or Big Boosted Street Car? Hoonigan Pits The Two Together!

I’m not sure when the A70 Supra gained it’s legendary status. Many will point to the Fast and Furious car from the first film, and that’s not a bad educated guess. But I remember people thinking that they were radical well before the movie came out. I remember people chatting up that magical 1,000 horsepower figure all the time, that the Supra just needed some head bolts and it would be a supercar killer. To be fair, there was plenty of meat on the bone with that argument. A 2Jz six with enough hair dryer feeing will do some fearsome things. But can a wicked Supra hold a candle to a purpose-built, light and lithe race car?

The Hoonigan crew are back to their drag track, and this time the challenger in the other lane is someone with notoriety. Tanner Foust needs no introduction, he got plenty of it when he was one of the original trio for Top Gear USA a few years back. Known for his diminutive stature and his ability to go 100% in anything with no fear whatsoever, he’s brought a JDAM to a knife fight with his LS7-powered Volkswagen Passat. Wow, never thought we’d write that sentence, but the car exists and it’s a wild thing. It’s also a wild-sounding thing because of it’s exhaust tubes. Hit play to hear the exhaust note alone!
