The sweet, sweet footage continues to flow from the vault of Urban Hillbilly Action Video and this time it is a six minute compilation of wheelstands that range from wild on purpose to completely nutso, half track “mistakes” that have people nearly falling out of the grandstands. Lots of these wheelstands were shot at places like South Georgia Motorsports Park, Byron, Bradenton, and a few others are sprinkled in for good measure. The Byron wheelies appear to have come from their renowned “World Power Wheelstanding Championship” event that has been drawing crowds and mental drivers for more than a decade now.
One thing that bears mentioning about this video is the sheer number of (warning: umbrella statement) “small tire” cars that pull these amazing flights of fancy. When you see a car with a 275 radial on it dead hooking and carrying the front end for half the length of the drag strip, you are seeing so many advances in both suspension technology and power delivery it is nuts. What those cars are doing now would have made the original iteration of the Little Red Wagon look like a total dud. The fact is that if the drivers of these cars had unlimited room and no concern about wrecking anything, they would stay in the fully raised position for as long as their foot wanted to be on the pedal. It is about traction and power. These days, racers have more of both than they have had in the history of drag racing.
This one isn’t about wrecks, fires, near misses, or anything else. This is about the poetry that is seeing cool cars trying to take flight!
