(Photos by Wes Allison) – It is kind of ironic that one of the biggest NHRA events of the year is followed by the biggest small tire drag race in the world with Lights Out 9. Why is it ironic? A big part of the NHRA scene are the original small tire cars, stockers. Still limited to a 9-inch wide maximum tire width, these full effort, full size cars are the epitome of getting the power to the ground on skinny rubber. Some guys run radials and some guys run traditional wrinkle walls but they are all standing their cars up with a contact patch as wide as your hand to work with.
More great stock and super stock action for you to enjoy here from Pomona. Check out the photos below!
I love the small tire classes. The stock and super stock classes are very cool. They have no problem filling a field. And of course we all love the wheelies. However I have to ask. Why do you post so many pictures of the same car in the same position .I kinda get you want to catch a car coming up ,while doing a wheelie. That is very cool. But 5 and 6 pics of the same car with 3 inches in difference.I guess I just don’t get the “art” of taking pictues. I was just thinking a lot more cars could have been featured.Thats just me
Do cars look happier when they are in a wheelie? Like they’re smiling? I haven’t taken LSD in thirty years, so it’s not that
Great shots, keep up the good work!
