Street Car Super Nationals Friday Photos: Burnouts, Launches, Huge Numbers On The Scoreboards

(Photos by Bryan McTaggart) – When we showed up to the 2014 Street Car Super Nationals “Anarchy Under The Arch” in St Louis we were expecting a great race with lots of familiar and heavy hitting names. Well, what we got instead was one of the greatest displays of speed and power that has ever been recorded in the annals of drag racing. By the time Thursday night was over we had already seen incredible numbers from the outlaw pro mod category and they just kept getting better….or crazier depending on your perspective.

This gallery of photos was taken on Friday night at the race by our man McTaggart. We’re going to link you to all the photos below and we’ll drop his Saturday photos on you tomorrow so you can see the most titanic final round in door slammer drag racing history. If you had told us that people would be running in the 5.40s at over 270mph this weekend in massive heat and crushing humidity, we’d have called you names and chased you away but you would have been the one making sense. This is unreal and the people that showed up saw history that shan’t be seen again…maybe ever. More on that tomorrow.
