(Photos by Joe Grippo) – More photos of cool and historic Cobra Jet powered Fords from the massive 50th Cobra Jet Reunion a couple of weeks ago. Joe Grippo was in his glory both racing his own wheel standing Mustang and documenting one of the neatest gatherings of historic Ford cars and people anyone can remember. No one is getting any younger these days and the fact is that there are precious few times left to gather the interesting folks that made things like the Cobra Jet Mustang and Cobra Jet family of engines happen. As you will see in these photos there were loads of cars outside of the Mustang that were available with Cobra Jet power and some of them are downright freaking surprising. Yes, four doors, a four speed, and a rollicking 428 were available from Ford!
We’re not going to blather on here. Instead, just enjoy the photos and this look into a gathering of cars the likes of which the Ford world may never see again. We do know that there were more members of the design, engineering, and execution teams on Cobra Jet at Norwalk than there have been virtually anywhere in the world over the last 10 years and the chances we’ll see them all in another 10 are slim to none. Time waits for no man, not even the brilliant hot rodders.
