The Rundown! Here’s All Of The Class Winners From The 2016 Jegs PSCA Street Car Super Nationals

As I write this I have returned to home after a long trip out west that culminated with four days at LVMS for the 2016 Jegs PSCA Street Car Super Nationals. It was one hell of a drag race that I’ll go into greater depth about in a Barnstormin’ column later this week. This is all about the winners. There were a ton of classes being contested at the 2016 SCSN and they ranged from the tried and true footbrake bracket racing categories you can see at your local strip to the thundering Outlaw Pro Mods that were running deep into the 5s with few rules other than those required by NHRA safety requirements.

In between those two extremes were a modicum of small tire and radial classes that were highly entertaining and hotly contested as well. From the Outlaw 8.5 cars and their monster wheelies to the Limited 235 machines running 5-second eighth mile passes on tires so ridiculously narrow they make a 9-inch slick really look big!

Perhaps the biggest winners of the whole weekend were the racers and fans that benefitted from a format and schedule change that saw the race completed by about 7pm on Sunday evening rather than the typically bleary eyed early Monday morning finishes of the past. This made an early Monday exit possible for racers who needed to get home and it allowed fans to get back and enjoy some of the massive fun that the city of Las Vegas has to offer. Trust me,  spend basically three of the last four weeks there. But I digress.

The pro mod contingent had the most interesting and challenging qualifying sessions of anyone. The track eluded some teams all the way into eliminations on both the legal and outlaw sides. Others were able to solve the riddle after their test and qualifying passes early in the event.

The one thing that cannot be denied is that every winner earned it against some of the best competition that the western USA (and in some cases eastern) and Canada had to offer!
