While we’re all about changing, modifying, and upgrading stuff on cars, we can certainly appreciate a true piece of craftsmanship when we see it and the restoration of this amazing 1968 Olds Cutlass S W-31 is a really cool in that the car was totally brought back by true craftsmen. The car itself is a really neat piece. It is a rare 1968 Olds Cutlass S W-31 which of course packs the Ram Rod 350 engine that was a great example of a small block that had the suds to punch out of its weight class for sure. The engine was a 350ci Olds small block that was equipped with a 308-degree duration cam, better heads, ram air, and other mechanical upgrades. It also came with manual brakes because there was not enough vacuum generated to actually run a booster.
The fact that the car is painted in a dark green (a pretty calm and rare color), the fact that proudly wears its dog dish center camps, and the fact that it has a four speed manual transmission all add up to make this car especially cool. Make no mistake, this thing was optioned by someone who understood what he was looking for. While the little 350 is lots smaller than the mighty 455ci engine that muscle car guys seem to default to, it is a muscular piece and this car could hold it’s own against others with lots more displacement. The cam specs and other tweaks made to this thing at the factory are pretty nuts when you consider it was happening in the later 1960s. If you have never heard one of these cars at idle or full song you are definitely missing out on one of the most radical exhaust notes of the muscle car era.
This car is pretty much flash and dash free. It is a post car and it wears dog dish hubcabs. We’re in love.

There lurks a snorting beast in the badlands of north east England. Walls shiver at its lusty voice and traffic melts at its fiery breath. Folk say it is the Devil come to harvest souls – but I say it is a 442 of this vintage that’s pure early 80s Pro Street!
It has shall we say “distressed” paint and chrome, a narrowed and tubbed rear end and a humongous GMC blown big block on twin four barrels.
It will be at the Metro Centre cruise, Gateshead on Wed. 13th May – so come down to pay homage to it and make sacrifice!
Oh – and by the way – save me a virgin or two while you’re at it….
No RWL tires in 1968. Should have Redlines
It’s not an original RamRod – don’t get ripped off based on the vague ad description. I owned this car from 2005-2007. It was born as a hi-compression 350 4 barrel car with the rally pack and a 3 speed manual stick. See my website link for pictures and full info. It was a badass car as it was originally and it was cloned by a later owner to sucker someone at a Mecum auction. I exposed the BS to them and to heir credit, they did disclose it as a clone at the time.
True that on the clones, I hate clones.
Also it is not Ram Air, it is OAI (outside air induction) I have a reproduction OAI from the Parts Place on my 68 442.
Never understood the popularity of the mundane Chevy products when the BOP top dogs would out run them with better looks, style, and class . Some of the top dog drag times back in the day were big Buicks, Olds, and Ponchos. Same goes for the 57 Chevy, pretty car but nowhere near the looks of the 57 Olds or Buick
That car is sweet!
