People are hot on nostalgia drag racing see days, especially the funny car stuff. No, not just the full-kill nitro powered nostalgia stuff but the alcohol driven cars as well. Heck, there is a series running now called Funny Car Chaos that our pals Chris and Tera Graves are running and it is basically like a massive funny car free for all. Different bodies, power plants, fuels, etc. Basically it is a throw down and people are loving every inch of it’s unpretentious and un-self important feel. This car needs to be there. You are looking at the BB/FC (alcohol funny car) formerly of Don Gerardot.

This 1978 Corvette raced at the US Nationals! Gerardot competed in alky funny car up until a few years ago and his handiwork can still be seen out and around the funny car world as a matter of fact. It was Gerardot that built a lot of the injector hats used on cars for a long period of time. His were all the awesome polished aluminum ones which are being supplanted by carbon fiber but the bottom line is that he was not just a racer, he was a supplier for the racing industry as well. This is a good looking car.

The machine comes sans engine. It can be re-chassis certified and the seller says that if the buyer wants that service, he’ll handle it. That’s pretty awesome. Even better is the fact that the car can accept either a big block Chevy or a hemi engine and the seller is including a pair of headers to fit each engine! Boom!

We’d love to let the clutch out in one of these old beasts before it is time to go for the big nap.
