(Photos by David Nutting) – It was not just the racers and the fans braving the crushing temperatures at the 2019 NHRA New England Nationals at Epping, New Hampshire’s, New England Dragway. Nope, the intrepid photographers were as well! Dave Nutting was the lensmen of the weekend for BangShift.com and he was hunkered down to get some great images of people, places, and really fast things. This first look at the event will come from Saturday as we peek at some nitro funny car and top fuel qualifying photos.
At this point in the day the racetrack was about 120+ degrees and teams that had struggles on a 140+ degree track on Friday were just trying to get themselves down the course in a safe and quick fashion. Many succeeded and some did not as you will see here.
The crowds at the modest New England track were strong all weekend despite the temperatures and when we get to the Sunday photos we’ll tell you all about how a reversal in the fortunes of the weather made for a wonderful experience for the fans. Rewarded for battling the last two days, the grand payoff was a wonderful and surprise filled Sunday at the track that has been opened for nearly 53 years at this point.
