This Turbocharged Small Block Powered Ferrari 250 GTO Goes 8s, Drives To Track, Rules All (Video)

The Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the world’s most famous, beautiful, and expensive cars. Real ones sell for between 20-30 million dollars at auction and at private sales between captains of industry. This is not a real one, but we’d say it is cooler than a real on because it is way faster than a real one could ever dream to be…on the drag strip at least. I have known this car for many years as it is a New England machine and runs regularly at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. I’m not sure if it is strange to say that something is a rare replica, but this car is. Very few of the kits that this one was built from were sold before Ferrari got pissed and shut the operation down.

Over the years, this car has been naturally aspirated, blown, and now it is turbocharged with the expected results. The car goes deep into the 8s at over 160mph and Ray drives it to the track on test and tune night every week to have fun. What’s been interesting is that over the years, despite the fact that the car keeps going faster and faster he’s kept it streetable and enjoyable to drive. Just the looks alone are drop dead sexy, but add in the performance and the legality end and you have one of the neatest cars in an entire region. Me thinks we need to track ol’ Ray down and feature this piece!

Another weird moniker we’d hang on this car is “sleeper”. Can a Ferrari ever actually be a sleeper? Sure, when it runs 8s and doesn’t have anything coming through the hood or hanging off of it. Yes, there is a parachute back there but I feel like it is discreetly mounted enough that some would look by it. What do you think? BangShift approved?

    Is this V8 turbo powered ‘ Replicar ‘ 250 GTO cool ?

    Why yes it is .

    Is it as the author states in any way , shape or form cooler than the original ?

    Having spent some time a couple of years ago with the largest single gathering of authentic 250 GTO’s in the World … driven in anger .. as well as having a turn at the wheel or two myself I’ll say .. hands down ;

    Hell No !!!

      Oh … and BTW … back in the day when used 250 GTO’s were last years news and had yet to attain the dreaded ‘ Collector Car ‘ status ; There actually were a couple of them that their owners had stuffed Yank V8’s in [ mostly Chevy small blocks ] in order to keep them on the road after the very expensive to replace/repair V12 had gone south .

      Once ‘ collector ‘ status was attained though the V8’s were removed and replaced with other V12’s

      Yeah looks like a 240z kit to me..there is a difference in tail lights & spoiler. Awesome fast, though!

    Now that is one fast car. Gets my approval for being super fast with no muss no fuss just goes done the track (and street) super fast.

    If ol’ Enzo had still been alive this guy would be waking up with a horse’s head and the V12 suspended above him by a thread! Is nothing sacred – I just hope he got flattened by a Ford and this misbegotten marriage went to that great bottomless pit that ol’ Chevys go to when they die.

    Maybe there’s some wiseguys out in NH who’ll teach him a lesson – what’s next a FordGT clone with a SBC as if there isn’t enough chevy powered Cobra clones around ? Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

    I remember seeing this car up at NED many years ago when it was a ten second car with a nitrous SBC. Its good to see the guy is still having fun with it.
