TX2K16 Coverage – More Photos And Cool Cars From The Wild Texas Weekend

(Words and photos by Jacob Marshall) – Some of you may have already caught some of our TX2K16 racing coverage earlier this week. But what really makes this event so special is the sheer quantity of modified cars from both racers and spectators. It was literally impossible to walk through the pits and parking lots of Royal Purple Raceway without spying built Dodge Vipers or 1000+ horsepower Nissan GT-Rs. But not only were the pits of the racetrack packed with hot daily drivers, but most of the city of Houston as well. TX2K16 demonstrated exactly how popular street car events have become, and the Houston streets were overrun with everything from stock Camaros, to twin turbo Lambos.

At night, the hotels turn into cruise spots, parking lots turn into car shows, and hotel luggage carts turn into tire carriers.  Some of you may recognize some of the more famous cars, like LSX Willy’s and Sketchy Vert. But unique cars were everywhere, like a Lotus on drag radials or a 2JZ powered first gen Toyota Celica. And with more cars than trailers present, it’s obvious that most of these cars get driven to the track, and as a result you’ll see some cars appear at both late night cruise spots, and at the dragstrip the next morning. This album is a collection of as many of the coolest cars we could compile from our week out in Houston. From stock Mustang GT’s, to F Series Procharged C7’s with parachutes, there’s a little bit of everything. It just goes to show that the newest generation of muscle cars and sports cars has a following that’s strong as ever, and these gearheads aren’t afraid to drive their junk!
