Yesterday we showed you a guy running 200mph on a hydrogen peroxide powered rocket bicycle. While that accomplishment was more risky to life and limb than this one, we rank them both on the same level for their impressive nature. See, it takes incredible dedication and skill to get anything to go 200mph. It is the realm of million dollar super cars, technologically marvelous race cars, and now remote control cars as Nic Case turned the trick with his Bullet car in late October. The runs were made on a long stretch in Utah and the record was set FIA style. This was not a one shot deal. It was a run and then a turn around run which backed up the initial 202mph pass by 1.45%. To say that this thing sounds like an electric shaver from hell may sound insulting at first but we don’t mean it to be. When you watch the video and actually hear this little thing come screaming by you will totally agree with us.
Like a full-sized streamliner you can see how much focus was placed on aerodynamics. The shape is cool because it is similar to the shape of full sized cars that run on the salt but shrunken way down. We can’t stress enough that this was a long and difficult process to get the car to where it is today. Sure, there are turn key 100mph RC cars from places like Traxxas but that’s like comparing a Ford Fiesta ST to a Ford GT. Yes, they have four wheels and are cars but they aren’t even close to being in the same league.
Nic sent us an email and summed it up better than we ever could:
Not bad for an amateur – with good friends, family, great sponsors and off-the-shelf electronics! The chassis, body and tires are all custom, stemming from myself and my teams imagination. There where many people that have helped throughout this journey. And as it turned out, Tracy, Josh and Mak (the people that were there at the beginning) were there to witness this historic speed run. I appreciate everyone’s support immensely.
I’ve learned so much during this journey, from aerodynamics to people. It’s funny how expectations can change how goals are enjoyed. The longer it takes – the less of a surprise it is when the goal is achieved. But sometimes, uncharted territory unfolds this way. You can’t succeed if you don’t fail.
Now, the R/C Bullet has consistently earned the top speed title.
This run qualifies for Guinness World Record.
I hung out with Nick and mak at Bonneville in 2013 camped next to him in fact good guy and lots of fun he was talking about doing this then. Good job Nick
Hey Will
How’s it going buddy! Bonneville was a blast, and it was great meeting you. Thanks for the props guys!

Cool stuff. Castle Creations equipment is legit. I was an early adopter of their stuff when they first came out and it revolutionized the R/C car brushless world (before that, all you had was overpriced Novak crap and those odd Hacker motors). They build it seriously tough and are a really friendly company as well.
I need to dig around and see if they have documentation on the design and build of this rig. I’m so curious about how they’ve managed this huge accomplishment with off-the-shelf gear.
Brilliant job guys, I take it that it’s 1:10th scale, I have just started building 1:8th scale funny car’s, slingshots, fuel altereds & fuel bike’s all running nitro!
