Yes, yes we know that you can still buy a new Edelbrock X1 intake manifold if you are whacked enough to want six two barrel carbs on top of a small block engine but if you can have one, why not get an original. The new ones are nicer and likely more functional but you are not as cool with one of those as you would be with this thing.

Look, the ONLY reason someone wants this is because they are wanting to make a visual impact with their engine. Between the basic needs of a small block engine and the hellacious pain in the ass tuning these carbs would be, this intake manifold is not a power maker. In fact, a similar piece was tested along with other more traditional intakes in a magazine test years ago and the six two barrel piece was not just a little worse, it was all the way worse.

So now that we have dumped on it performance-wise, let’s exhaust it’s over the top looks, shall we. Pulling the hood up on this junk will have people stopping in their tracks for sure. I’m not positive I have ever seen one of these intakes on an engine before ad I know I have never driven a car with one bolted on. The fuel distribution alone seems like it is so creep that it would never work, but that’s just me.

So yeah, we know it’ll be slow but you’ll look damned good doing it.
