Watch This Pontiac Wheelie Into The Fog At Lights Out 9 – Craziness!

We are just a few weeks away from Lights Out 11 and it always makes me start to think about my memories from some of the previous events I have done in this incredible series. Lights Out 9 was a weird one on a few levels and mother nature played a big role in that. Along with resetting the world records in every class that we had there was also the other things that hide in the darkened corners of my brain.

One of the things that I’ll always remember Lights Out 9 for was the way the fog came in. It was like a light switch. One moment it was clear and pretty nice and the next it was pea soup so thick we could barely see the scoreboards. You are going to see one of the last runs made on “fog night” at South Georgia Motorsports Park during Lights Out 9. Very shortly after this run was made, race officials made the call to stop competition for the night and pick it up in the morning. You’ll see what that was a great idea below.

It was about the wildest drag strip weather deal I have ever experienced for the simple fact of how quickly it descended on the facility. It wasn’t like wispy fog that all of a sudden thickened. Nope, this was like, “Hey, I’m just going to go ahead and come in like gang busters right now. Cool?” You’ll see the amount of condensation that was accumulating on race car windows and stuff in the staging lanes.

Those racers who did not block their windows with blankets or whatnot to keep the condensation off were driving by either the method of the Holy Spirit, the Force, or some other divine situation because they sure as hell were not seeing out of their windshields.

The great charm of Lights Out is that even the weather gets in on the act of making it the most nutso show in drag racing.
