Today it is not entirely uncommon to see junior dragsters lugged to the track in a toter home and stacker trailer setup. This is complete insanity and you can basically blame Billy Meyer for all of it. He was the first guy to convert a moving trailer into a face trailer for his funny car operation back in the 1970s and now we have everyone pulling around these huge by large rigs, mostly because they want to win some sort of wang measuring contest in the pits. But I digress. Before pro stock went the way of the big rig, trucks like the one below were how lots of teams transported themselves from race to race. This one happens to be in insanely nice condition and the sellers apparently know that and are asking $21,000 to buy it. We’re actually stunned at how good this rig is because unless it has been hermetically sealed in a garage since brand new, it has likely racked up some serious road miles going from track to track and having a car and all the tools needed to run a team strapped to its back.
Outside of the handsome exterior looks of the GMC there is the incredible interior of the rear portion of the truck. The hardwood floor, wood paneling, work bench, and cabinets are all mint. Note the lights mounted on the door that could be flipped on for night servicing of the race car.
The ad is super short on words so we do now know if the truck has been restored or just amazingly well preserved since new. Not that it would really matter to us either way but it would be cool to know. We know that this does not have the fancy lounge, nice couches, and powerful turbo diesel engines available in a modern toter-home but you’d like 500% cooler rolling into a track with this truck and your bracket car in the back than all of those monsters in their 80′ long rigs.
Are we right or are we right?

Nice truck! It looks like one from the past but whatever it’s epic. I saw the similar on the exhibition of trucks in Jefferson City, TN. Thank you for sharing.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this truck before. Back in the mid 90’s I raced every week at Sunshine Speedway in Pinellas Park, FL. This truck, or one just like it, belonged to Robbie Diamond. They hauled a late 70’s Camaro tube chassis car in it. I think it had “Diamond Racing” lettered on the doors back then. The hardwood floors in the back make this truck stand out. You don’t see that every day!
Does it even have an engine? Did I miss that part? I wonder if they hit send before finishing the write up…I guess I’ll send them my questions unless I missed something in the text of the ad?
Here is the reply I received in regards to the power plant…
“Hi, thank you for your interest in the GMC. Yes, this truck has an engine. It runs great. Small block, V-8 – stock. Custom made car hauler. We hauled Sox and Martin drag racing car in it, if you know about drag racing, I’m sure you heard of them. It is a 4-speed with 2 speed axle. chassis was linked 66 inches. Brown company box out of Michigan. I’m selling it for Grandpa, his name is Petie Eavers. If you need any questions answered, he’ll be glad to talk with you.
It’s going next week, to haul his drag car to a nostalgia drag race. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks, Gloria”
That is perfect for an old Pro Stock from the late 70’s or early 80’s.
They might have better luck selling this if they didn’t have it in the “trailers” category.
