There are a couple things that make this simple video great. The first is the absolutely massive wheel stand that the Monte Carlo drag car goes into on the newly resurfaced strip at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland (when this video was made in 2012) and the second is the sheer balls of the driver who pulls the bumper stand, lands the car perfectly without a hitch and then wins the damned round!

Lots of times when cars go vertical like this one, the ending is pretty bad. Drivers panic, dump the throttle and then taco their headers, oil pan, and front suspension. Not this guy! The man in the Monte drives like he was planning to do this all along and doesn’t miss a beat. A quick blip of the throttle when the rears are off the ground to keep from running the motor up to the moon and then he sets it down on all fours and simply motors away from the guy in the Chevelle he was racing.

The guy in the Chevelle was probably thinking, “That was AWESOME!”
