Watch a Street Legal Ford Anglia Pull a Pair of Massive Wheelstands on the Same Run at Santa Pod

We went trolling YouTube from some nostalgia drag racing goodness last night for fun and came up big. We were not looking long when we found this great clip of a street legal Ford Anglia over in England pulling a pair of totally massive wheelies on the same run. The car runs in a class where wheelie bars are not allowed, hence the problem.

Here in the states, few Anglias that made it to our shores and onto our roads. The many of the ones that did were pressed into duty as gas class competitors by drag racers in the 1960s. Their minimal weight and tiny wheelbase were attractive elements to hot rodders who shoved everything from six cylinder Jimmy engines to Chrysler Hemi mills into the front of the tiny cars. The car in the video is a modernized example of the old school gasser. It has the same look, but a far more advanced chassis and a far more stable low-slung design.

This is a bad ass little hot rod!

    STREET LEGAL???? – Yeh right.

The class wont allow wheelie bars but its fine to put a hideous/huge wing on the back.

Time to change class – me thinks.

I think I’d prefer wheelie bars and avoid all that damage.

Yes, street legal. It runs in street eliminator, for street legal cars. (the smae class the Bentley of steve niamantis runs in)
I was there when this happened, and it was awesome! although i think the car was feeling sorry for itself afterwards.
