Watch David “Little Evil” Pearson Reset The PRO 275 Record At No Mercy 10 With A 3.90-Second Rip

There are certain cars that transcend time, they transcend classes, and they really help to define a genre of drag racing. David and Tracy’s Pearson’s Calypso Green Mustang is one of those cars and the newest iteration of the machine is the baddest ass yet. Changing the car over from a small block to a big block, swapping to Holley EFI, and using (quite literally) the largest Vortech centirfugal supercharger that the company makes, David and Tracy reset the PRO 275 record at No Mercy 10 with a ripping 3.903/181.11 mpg blast. This on  28 inch tall, 275 wide rear tire. Insanity.

Over the years this car has evolved like so many machines in small tire racing. In fact we would put it in league with the famed Jason Carter Malibu that Mark Micke drives because it has gone through so many advances and changes over the years, resulting in it being able to compete at the highest levels of radial tire drag racing competition.

For those unfamiliar PRO 275 is the “Radial vs The World” of 275 tire racing. Whereas classes like Ultra Street and X275 have far more stringent rules regarding weight, power adder limitations, and engine size regulations, PRO 275 is more wide open and that makes it the place for total bad asses to hang out.

David and his wife Tracy have been racing together for a very long time and Tracy has a highly active role in the tuning and operation of this race car. David is a driver extrodinare and it was really fun watching this car during the Shakedown at VMP a few weeks ago and knowing that they were going to be on point by the time they were ready to run at SGMP at No Mercy.

This video is the epitome of a perfect small tire run. You’ll see the car leave the starting line, throw the weight back, stick the tire, and then you will hear it get progressively more angry as the power comes on like a torrent.

Good job, kids, we bet that record sticks for a hot second!

It seems like yesterday that radial tire equipped drag drag cars broke into the 7 second range. Radial cars are now as quick (on properly prepared tracks) as Pro Mods on steam roller slicks! And now we have cars on tiny 275 radials running under 4.0 in the 1/8th. Simply amazing.
