Watch A Group Of Guys Try To Kill Themselves While Running A Twin Turbo VW Trike On A Chassis Dyno

Watch A Group Of Guys Try To Kill Themselves While Running A Twin Turbo VW Trike On A Chassis Dyno

Hey, we have done our fair share of borderline dumb stuff but this video really goes into an area of danger and complete disregard for safety that we’ve not ever ventured toward before. What you are going to see is a pretty interesting looking twin turbo, air-cooled powered VW trike on a chassis dyno in some foreign land with long license plates. The trike spins the tires on the dyno so they have a guy sit in the back seat. The trike spins the tires again and then a guy stands on the back of it. The thing spins the tires again and each time more and more people are added to try and hold the thing tight to the rollers until there’s about 10 guys hanging off of it in every possible direction. There are so many ways that this could all go wrong that we’re really not sure where to stars. If a tire failed the dudes next to them would get cut to ribbons, of the motor failed and blew parts out of it there would be a mass casualty incident, and if the machine had ever jumped off the rollers it would have taken them all down.

Ultimately the machine makes 180hp at the tires while the exhaust is dragging on the rollers and throwing sparks. It must be a bunch of fun to drive because of that power to weight ratio and frankly we’d love to give it a rip around town, but seeing all of those people virtually piled on top of it when the trike is running at full throttle gave us the willies. Use you head in the shop. No one’s health or well-being is worth putting into this type of risk on a dyno pull. Remember, we’ve seen stuff go sideways on the rollers before. These guys were lucky that it didn’t happen to them.

Oh those whacky Aussies, really living life, tempting fate and getting it done.

“What’d you do today?” takes on a different meaning at their pubs I imagine.

Must be the only place in ‘Long License Plate Land’ to dyno your VW powered toys – lots of other u-tube vids @ the same dyno local

I find it sad that so much time, energy and money were spent to make 180hp…Could make more with a I4 Yamaha or Honda motorcycle engine….But it’s a VW and its cool…SMH…no, no it’s not….

It’s an engine that was designed in the early 1920’s, to have around 28hp…so yeah, so much cooler to get 180hp out of that then a yamaha.

gonna have to agree to disagree on the cool factor…I guess much like beauty…cool is in the eye of the beerholder…

When you make 1,000 hp then yea its cool. 180hp not really. Although it was made in the 1920’s major design changes have been made in all other parts to make that happen.
