Watch John Puckett’s Drag Week and Race Week Surviving 900hp Coyote Mercury Clean Up At No Prep!

John Puckett’s Mercury Capri is one of our favorite hardcore street cars because the guy built the thing to be as reliable as an anvil and he also built it to beat the daylights out of it. A Coyote motor has been braced up with a Vortech YSI blower to the tune of 900hp. All of that power is being funneled through a stick shifted manual trans and the result is a car that has completed Hot Rod Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week, and has absolutely dominated the stick shift class at No Prep event held at I29 Dragway. When this video was made, Puckett had yet to lose a freaking round of competition the entire season!

There are cars that are faster and more flashy but we keep coming back to John’s car because it is the great combo of modern horsepower and engineering with the older and frankly less loved Capri body style. Would the car still be cool with an automatic? No doubt  but it would only be a shell of itself without the stick that Puckett so expertly wields.

We’re not going to ramble on here. We just want you to check out this video and the great piece that 1320 did on the car. Totally deserved and totally awesome.

That t56 is 6 years old and never been fixed or broken! Bang shift it and it will be done! That is how you keep a 3 time drag week and 1 time RMRW car going!
