It’s baaaaaack! That’s right, this is the spot that you’ll be watching from to see the most insane, fast, wild, and weird drag race of them all. Lights Out 9 kicks off tonight at 6pm eastern time and will be rollicking all the way to Sunday night (Monday morning?) as the baddest small tire cars in the universe blast their way down the track at South Georgia Motorsports Park in classes like Radial vs The World, X275, Limited Drag Radial, Ultra Street, and more. There will be wheelies, there will be wreckage, and there will be records. That’s the way it goes ever year at this deal. Remember, this is the race that the cars like to fly at.
MotorManiaTV.com is providing the live streaming action all weekend long and our friends the Walter family has been involved in this race basically since its inception. They have seen it grow and they have grown with it. The coverage will have multiple cameras , replays, and all the stuff you expect from an event of this nature.
We’ll be on the scene for the whole shooting match starting today. You don’t have to watch, but then again, you don’t have to breathe either and we think you probably should.
Will the dulcet, melodious and humorous tones of the “Lohnes” be at the mike?? 🙂
IF ITS 1/8 MILE ITS JUST A WASTE OF TIME . I SEE 1/8 MILE AS JUST A BURN OUT IF YOU GET A GOOD LIGHT THE RACE IS OVER ,NOW 1/4 MILE IS TRUE TO THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT. IT TAKES A GOOD CAR AND DRIVER AND OFFERS 1/4 MILE GIVES
TIME TO PROVE IT
You must live in Colorado…
1/8th mile is new age drag racing and its never a waste of time welcome to new age drag racing i love it !!!
Gary,
You’re mssing the purpose of this type dragacing. Engine builders can make thousands of HP now with many different combinations. So the new age of drag racer has come up with a limiting factor called tire width. If they ran the big boys track (1320) they would be spinning like tops by 1000 ft.
I suppose the ultimate challenge for “these new drag racers” will be to see if you can run in the 3’s on a bicycle tire a do it with 1000 dip s&^%ts standing on the starting line
I wonder what`s next ? Making even more hp and running 1/16 ?
Grew up in Louisville Ky area, Went to races from age 12 on, Friday & Saturday nite 1/8 Mile and Sunday 1/4. Never then, and still do not see a difference, both have a start and a finish line. I do think most people who still think 1/4 mile is the end all do all has never bought a $80K engine and tried to keep it running using 3+ stages of spray. Most big motor, working guys are glad to click it a the 1/8th. AND if you don’t understand Lights Out, it’s your loss.
I was at “Shakedown at E-town” for many years and can see why they went to the 1/8th mile. Seeing a car fly thru the air at over 220 MPH is a frightening sight.
Ok Don,
Why don’t you explain Lights Out to us in detail.
Is it over yet? great job brian and friends, any truth to the rumor
they wore out 3 tractors, 2 announcers, and 1 sticky pig???
and no I’m not referring to Mop girl
