Here’s an interesting perspective on making a mean ol’ stick shift drag pass! With the camera mounted under the car you can see what’s happening to the working end of this GT500 when the driver winds it up, dumps the clutch and starts ripping the gears. We are constantly on the hunt for different and cool videos to feature stick jamming action and this is right up our alley!
The guys at Billet Pro Shop run this car and it is a true stick shift machine that is knocking on the door of the eights on a good day, apparently. In this video we’re taking the bug’s eye view of the whole situation with the camera mounted just ahead (or perhaps on) the rear end housing. The view is of the front tires, the driveshaft, and the the gas tanks primarily and while that doesn’t sound like Spielberg level filmmaking, we can tell you that this video is worth the price of admission.
The first thing you need to do is skip to 1:00 in so you don’t have to ride under the car through the pits. It is kind of cool but if you want to get right to the heart of the matter, 1:00 is the jam. Anyway, you’ll hear the driver bring the motor up, step off the clutch, and the get to work. The car pulls the wheels a little a the hit but things get really awesome when the guy hammers second and it pulls a gnarly wheelie again on its way to a low 9-second pass that the poster claims was made while essentially coasting through the traps. We don’t have the skinny on the tech side of the car, but watching this video from under it gives you an idea of just how hard the suspension and driveline are working to hang onto all that power! This is gearhead greatness and a video that BangShifters will dig for sure!
