Beau Layne is one of the most seasoned, talented, and hardcore racers in the NHRA’s Mickey Thompson Top Fuel Harley-Davidson motorcycle class. His 2019 season is the best he has ever had with multiple race wins and a motorcycle that has been performing at its top level.
Layne was looking good in Seattle until he suffered one of the most horrifying and horrendous wrecks in the history of this class with NHRA. After crossing the finish line at over 214mph, Layne’s motorcycle crossed the course and battered the wall on the opposite side.
The 1,000lb motorcycle then proceeded down the course as an unguided missile, smashing straight through the first catch net and being wrapped up in the second one. Meanwhile, Layne was tumbling like a rag doll down the course in a scene straight out of a scary movie.
In an incredible twist, after he stopped tumbling, he rose to his knees and ultimately his feet, walking for a short distance in the shutdown area before the Safety Safari arrived. Layne was not unscathed though. His arm was seriously injured with gashes all the way to the bone. He was taken to the hospital for observation. He will ultimately recover and he is already scheming on trying to race at the US Nationals.
Hardcore.
