Watch This ProCharger Equipped Top Dragster Pull A Wheelie At The Eighth Mile – Here’s Why This Class Rules

Andy Johnson recently went for the ride of his life at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida when his ProCharged, big block, top dragster entry went into a power wheelie at the eighth mile mark of the track (during an eighth mile race). If you have any reason to question why top dragster is cool, let this video remove all doubt immediately. Between the massive horsepower, bottom six second elapsed times and mechanical diversity in the category top dragster is an awesome thing to watch. As we have talked about previously, you need to run as hard as possible and then in eliminations you are essentially driving a bracket race at 220 mph. If you think that’s not entertaining, we have nothing for you.

We’ve seen Johnson’s car at several events over the last few years and it is always fun to watch. As per usual, with the ProCharger it is close to the loudest SOB in the grounds. In top dragster, there’s no limitation (other than nitro being illegal) as far as making power so this combo is one of several that we see all over the country. Huge cubic inch naturally aspirated engines, turbos, nitrous, and roots blowers are all part of the program. Engine types range from the good ol’ big block all the way to guys running AMC engines. We’re serious. Top dragster is awesome.

So watch Andy Johnson launch off and make big power down the course, only to be staring at the clouds by the time he gets to the eight mile blocks! The thing still runs a low four second lap at over 150 with Johnson wrestling it and well off the throttle. This is big time stuff!

this is a great class, a friend is sticking a blown 540 in his S/C dragster to run out here on the left coast (low 6s to qualify)

It was “open Outlaw” class that day – not sure if that is the same thing and it was quite a sight to see in person.
