Yes, this is pretty crazy video. We have not seen many hunks of film where you can literally watch the rods fall out of an engine as it is going down the track. In this case it is a Nova that’s making a rip down the drag strip and Urban Hillbilly Action Video was on the scene to catch the whole failure unfold. You will see it in real time and then you will see it in slow motion and the slow motion is nuts because you can literally watch the stuff hit the deck when the engine fails. Ouch!
About the only positive thing we can say about this video is the fact that the guy keeps the thing off the walls. Normally when some stuff like this happens, the goop gets under the rear tires and the move ends in wreckage. This guy’s car looks like a space shuttle launch but he does not hit anything.
My dad and I killed a motor on the drag strip when we were racing together back in the day and while the rods did not physically escape the confines of the engine, the scene was pretty bad. I’m not making light of this guy’s situation because his hard earned cashola went into building that bullet and it’ll go into putting the next one together.
Here’s to hoping he’s already back on the strip.
