Shag Nasty: Watch This 1,000 Wheel Horsepower 4-Rotor Mazda Get Dyno Tuned For Full Throttle Shifting!

This is insane. You are going to Watch This 1,000 wheel horsepower 4-Rotor Mazda get dyno tuned for full throttle shifting. The car actually runs on two dynos in this video. The first is a Mustang eddy current dyno that is used to work on the shift timing and tuning and the second is a DynoJet that is used for the big horsepower numbers. Some guys will roll their eyes at that one as the DynoJet tends to be more generous in giving up horsepower numbers than a Mustang but that is not the point of this. The point is that the car is like some sort of a road going version of the mental 787b Mazda race car. It is loud as hell and it operates at a pitch that likely has the local dog popular howling.

We do not know the backstory on the car or the owner but this strikes us as one of those, “I’ve had this car forever” stories where the dude keeps stepping it up and stepping it up and sooner or later he is the owner of a beastly creation like this. The air shifting program he has here is pretty neat.

The car has a dog bog style transmission and its tuning the fuel and spark stuff for shifting that’s the main goal of the first part of the video. The different between the shift time, which is pretty quick at first and then insanely quick when done, it cool to listen to. Being able to flat shift a car like this while you are on the drag strip is a huge advantage and that dog box may not exactly be the most street friendly unit, but at the track they are really, really hard to beat.

This car is evil with a capital ROTARY!
