Superchargers and V8 engines go together like beer and chocolate cake. The combo is heavenly. In this video we see a guy somewhere in the Central/South America region standing over a small block of some sort (Mopar?) and ripping the throttle blades open by hand on the blower hat. Things go pretty well until they don’t and the supercharger blows of the top of the engine, momentarily bathing the throttle ripper with fire. Thankfully the guy seems to be unhurt as he is stumbling away from the car.
There’s obviously a modicum of reasons as to why this could have happened. Was the fuel system bad, causing the engine to go into a dead lean condition and igniting all the fuel in the intake and blower? Was there a valve train issue that caused some flame to travel where it should not have been and at the wrong time? We’re not sure.
What we do know is that the chopped Ford with the ’34 grill shell hanging around what looks like a propane tank is in need of immediate repairs. The crowd’s reaction is a classic horror movie gasp. This little blown small block needs some love. Hopefully the car is back up and running by now and hopefully the guy who nearly ate a blower doesn’t freaking do that again.
