Watch This Gnarly S-10 Literally Blow Through The Guardrail At A No-Prep Race In Texas

Boy, it was an eventful weekend at the no-prep race held at Texas’s Edinburg Dragway. Earlier in the weekend, Mike Murillo suffered a rough crash that saw him all but total his world beating Mustang. Then there was another incident and this one pegs the craziness meter when one of the racing vehicles essentially plows through the guardrail while taking flight. The flight of the S-10 truck is pretty short but it is a rough one and the front of the truck really took a beating when it blew its way through the steel guardrail. We’re guessing that the underside of the little truck was not exactly in prime shape after the landing as well. The driver was OK and you’ll see him in the videos below out of the truck and getting checked out by the medical people.

This looked to us like a classic case of one car’s action causing another’s misfortune. When you see the the Mustang in the other lane make a violent move opposite the truck and then the truck react as to avoid the potential for a two car wreck, things go south from there. People can argue about the wisdom of no-prep racing until they are blue in the face and that’s fine. The people doing this know what they are getting into and there are no surprises. While no one shows up to wreck their stuff, it is an ever-present possibility in any form of racing. We’re glad the guy in the S-10 is OK.

If you plan on running a serious no-prep car at Edinburg maybe bring some Holy Water or a chicken to sacrifice. This place eats cars!

Below are two videos, the first from Henry Thomae and the second from Javier Padron – Wild!

“While no one shows up to wreck their stuff, it is an ever-present possibility in any form of racing.” Yes, I get this, but prepping the track at least reduces the risk. Anytime I see one of these wrecks at a no-prep event, I really don’t feel sorry for what happened.

Race in less than ideal situations and there is a greater chance something like this will happen. No-prep = moronic.

What if No Prep = No Cameras? Its just a matter of time before one of these goes really, rally bad and ends it for all of us (at all levels). Ate last it would cut down the number of dudes in black t-shirts holding phones up at the starting line. One big tranny pop and 10 guys could go down. “2 words Harry: In Sane.”
