Watch This Vega Get All Four Wheels WAY Off The Ground At The Drag Strip

The humble wheelie bar has a no-win type of job. Lots of arm chair crew chiefs bemoan their existence because they think that racers should be tuning their cars to work without them. Then there’s the other side of the coin which is the situation in this video.

See, what happens here is that the car hits the wheelie bars so violently that it turns them into a lever and it lifts all four wheels ALL the way off the pavement. Believe it or not, this car lands and actually legs out the run but does not win. The awesome, turbocharged inline six powered truck in the other lane gets the win light. The video was taken at Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy, Texas. We’re pretty sure this is the place owned by noted tuner John Hennessey.

For the record, we’re pro-wheelie bar because they often lead racers to tune their cars so that they are comfortable with lofting big wheelies because they know that they’re bolted to the back of the car. Sure, there’s the downside when crew guys forget to pin them in the down position or leave them pinned in the up position, but that’s one of the costs of doing business, right? Long live wheelies…especially those with all four wheels off the ground!
